"Today you are a martial artist"

About a week ago I was at my martial art dojo and it so happened that only two other students besides me came that night and the class seemed more personal that day. At the end of the class I asked Sensei a question:
"Sensei, what makes one a martial artist?"
"Have you practiced martial arts today?"
"Yes I did."
"Then today you are a martial artists!"
That was the definition of a martial artist that Sensei gave me and I really like this definition. What he meant was that a martial artist is only a martial artist as long as he keeps training, practicing, and learning martial arts. Its not something that if you studied martial arts or earned a black-belt and then stopped that made you a martial artist, its a continued practice. Sensei said that on the days you don't do any martial arts, then you can't call your self a martial artist, and on the days you do even 5 min of true martial art practice and learning, than you can call you self a real martial artist. I think that I really agree with that. I am going to make sure that on the days that I don't make it to the dojo, I will practice at home, so that the days when I am not a martial artist get fewer and rarer.
